Andrej Sinochkin
Andrej Sinochkin is a self-taught artist born in Leningrad (St.Petersburg)in 1953. Prior to 1991, Sinochkin worked as a manual laborer; his jobs included janitor, stoker, and loader. His life-experiences allowed him to study firsthand a post-Soviet society in disarray. He resides in a disintegrating historical center in St. Petersburg that is reflected in his antisocialism, realism style: a depressed social scene is evocative of much of his work. Sinochkin participated in the exhibition St. Petersburg – the town of mad people. His works are in private collections in Germany, the United States, France, Austria, and Russia.
