Valerij Bashenin was born in 1943 in Votkinsk. He studied at an art school in Saratov from 1956 until 1964. After graduation he worked at the Artist Fund in Volograd. From 1968 until 1973 Bashenin studied at the Moscow Art School of Applied Arts (formerly Stroganov’s Institute,) at the department of monumental painting, under the direction of Prof. Bordichenko. He has lived in Moscow since 1973 and works in the Moscow Artist Fund as a monumental artist. He has participated in many exhibitions of monumental painting in Moscow and in St. Petersburg. In 1990, Bashenin participated in the M’Ars Gallery exhibition. He has had one-man exhibitions at Ars Sovetica (1989,) Art Moderna Sovetica (1990,) Art Los Angeles (1990,) and Art London (1991).
