Ekaterina Kornilova was born in Moscow in 1957. Her father, Vladimir Kornilov, is a well-known Russian poet. Her mother is a writer. From 1970 through 1974 she studied painting with her first teacher, Boris Birger. She studied at the Moscow Art College from 1974 until 1978. From 1979 until 1985 Kornilova studied at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.Surikov. She lives and works in Moscow.
